Tasty Treats with Tito Boy on the Trail

Updated: Apr 3

A purple pick me up in Bois des Esprits!

Sometimes you need a quick and fun activity idea and if you live close to the south end of Winnipeg, this is the one for you.

Tastes at Tito Boy

I'm not overly familiar with Filipino cuisine but I had heard of a new restaurant that was fairly new to the south end of Winnipeg, on St. Anne's Road. As the content creator that I am, I instantly looked up Tito Boy on Instagram and started following them. Like any new eatery I follow, I become enamoured with colourful photos and tantalizing food. Tito Boy had one particular beverage the ube latte that peaked my interest! It's purple, creamy coffee consistency seemed wonderful. I had to try it! And as the explorer that I am, I had wondered what I could pair this tasty excursion with.

Beautiful Bois des Esprits

I knew the beautiful Bois des Esprits was close by so we parked our vehicle near the No Frills grocery store on the corner of St. Anne's and Southglen Blvd, grabbed our ube latte's from Tito Boy Restaurant and walked across the street.

Psst.. Tito Boy's ube latte's also come iced with whipped cream and crunchy ube bits! A perfect summer treat to try.

I had never tried ube before but I knew it was purple like taro. Ube has a sweet and nutty flavour, often used in baking. It's certainly a unique taste that may not be for everyone. As is anything really! As we walked over the bridge Mother Nature had sure outdone herself, with a recent layer of gorgeous hoar frost. The river was mostly frozen with a bit of fresh water peaking through. It was picturesque as a postcard. Amongst the eerie stillness of the air, was a sense of calm.

Show Stopper

The day before, I had received my first ever Poppy & Peonies order, their commuter tote in black. I had been looking for a new work backpack for a while and this one fit the bill. It was the perfect time to take it out for a spin. If you haven't yet been to Bois des Esprits, it is so beautiful. After the hoar frost blanketed the park, the smallest of details were putting on a show for us.

A unique and delicious hot drink with a gorgeous walk in the park is your next activity. Get planning!
