Timely & Tasty
I've made a commitment to m myself to try and be more active through the winter months. During the working week should be more exception...easier said than done. I'm so grateful to work where I do, being right at The Forks with walkways and trails only steps away. I'm looking forward to exploring more of what is near by. Yesterday I decided to go for a lunchtime stroll, despite the gloomy weather. On the plus hand, it was mild out. Sometimes my favourite thing is to just go out and about with no agenda or point of arrival in mind, I like going with the flow and seeing where I end up. It's fun! This particular impromptu adventure was more than fun, it was tasty.
A Lunchtime Stroll
I began walking south on The Forks River Walk at lunchtime along the Assiniboine River. I was walking on the actual walk as unfortunately due to the weather, the Nestaweya River Trail was unable to open in this direction. Shortly down the trail I stopped to stare up the stairs towards Bonnycastle Park. I had been here once before a few summers ago and recalled there was a sweet treat around the bend, Fête Ice Cream & Coffee! Today's lunchtime stroll just took a sweet turn.
Funfetti vs. Mini Egg
I quickly whipped out my phone to check out Fête's online menu. As much as a hot coffee sounded nice, I was drawn in by their claim to fame, the ice cream. Salted Caramel Crunch, Chocolate Fudge Brownie, Peanut Butter Pretzel, London Fog, the list goes on. But, it was Funfetti I had my eye on. Anything cake flavoured or with sprinkles strikes a special string with me. Maybe it's the nostalgia. Once I arrived I decided to try a sample spoon before I committed to my choice. I couldn't help but notice another new flavour... Mini Egg. Yes, Mini Egg. And it was everything I could have hoped it would be and more. I didn't end up getting a scoop of the Mini Egg... instead, I got a pint! I packed up my ice cream and strolled back to the office and shared my sweet treat find with my team at work. It's true that sometimes the most delicious surprises are spur of the moment.
